Kenneth “James” Fusca, Jr. is a heroin addict. He started at age 12, and tried but didn’t complete an outpatient program. Now 19, he was living on the streets until he reached out to his mom for help. His request for help followed a string of eight overdoses in the Santa Clarita Valley, a few of which were James’ friends. He admitted to taking nearly-fatal doses himself on several occasions. On May 5, 2017, he was admitted to rehab. After just a few short weeks, James’ behavior took a turn, forcing rehab staff to call police. He was booked into the Los Angeles County Jail on outstanding warrants, and served nearly three months.
In September 2017, he was released, sober and determined to stay that way.
